We had a ROUGH night in Killarney.
We settled into our room after we wandered around town after dinner. Li'l Miss MM konked out pretty easy. They provided a play pen so we put her down. About an hour & 1/2 later, she roused. When you hear that it's like "shh stay still, don't make a peep!" but it was too late. She got up again. We tried getting her to settle down, but she fought & fought & fought. More bath time. More boob time. More snacks & water. Nothing kept her appeased for too long & she continued to fight sleep. The Mr & I were getting to the point of exhaustion but what can you do (other than getting snippy & trying to take turns). Nathan took her down to the lobby to try to see if she would relax & settle down. The bar keep gave her some fries & her and Daddy wandered some. I tried to sleep but was worried they'd gotten locked out... FINALLY around 4:15 she was ready to settle down. We probably got about 4 hours of sleep that night. Better than it could've been, but not quite enough when you haven't completely adjusted to the time difference.
We could've slept longer but wanted to eat breakfast before we went on our Ring of Kerry tour (which I paid for in advance). So Nathan took MM down to start while I finished packing our stuff. We ate, packed the car, checked out & headed toward the tour start.
The beginning of the tour was great. We made several stops & went to a famine village. Had an Irish Coffee & ate lunch on the side of a cliff. After lunch, someone made the unfortunate comment about how well behaved MM had been. I feel like it was fated to go bad from there. Not 30 minutes later did she lose her mind. Not horribly, but tired & fighting sleep again. Nathan tried to settle her, I tried to settle her. Just about as soon as she'd settle, she'd jerk a foot or her head & there we went again. Luckily we had some snacks in he car. She ate those & that helped. She relaxed & finally let herself sleep. We made a couple more picture stops and somewhere along the way, she woke up again. She didn't cry again, but I think we both felt like it was a ticking time bomb.
We were SO thankful to get finished with that tour! But it was back in the car with another long-ish drive. Off to Ennis we went....
